Conflict Of Interest

____________________________________________________________________________

Al-Irsyad Journal of Physics Education (IJPE) is committed to maintaining integrity, independence, objectivity, and transparency throughout the entire scientific publication process. A conflict of interest, also known as competing interests, may arise when financial, personal, professional, academic, institutional, or other interests have the potential to influence or could reasonably be perceived as influencing—the conduct of community service activities, the interpretation of results, manuscript evaluation, editorial decisions, or the publication of articles.

The existence of a particular relationship or interest does not necessarily indicate an ethical violation. However, any relevant interests must be disclosed transparently so that editors, reviewers, and readers can assess their potential influence on the content and publication process of the article.

Authors’ Responsibilities

All authors are required to disclose actual, potential, or perceived conflicts of interest that may influence community service activities and the publication of manuscripts. Conflicts of interest may include, but are not limited to:

  1. Financial interests, such as funding, honoraria, consulting, stock ownership, or financial support from parties with a stake in the outcomes of the activities.
  2. Professional and institutional interests, such as employment relationships, institutional collaborations, program partnerships, or organizational involvement that could potentially influence the objectivity of the report.
  3. Personal interests, such as family relationships, friendships, or other personal ties that could influence the assessment and interpretation of results.
  4. Academic or intellectual interests, such as mentoring relationships, academic competition, ownership of intellectual property, or other interests related to the results of the activity and the publication.
  5. Organizational or commercial interests, including relationships with sponsors, product or service providers, implementing partners, or parties that may potentially benefit from the publication.

Authors are required to include a Conflict-of-Interest Statement in the submitted manuscript. If a conflict of interest exists, authors must describe the nature of the interest clearly and concisely. If no conflict of interest exists, authors must explicitly state this.

Disclosure of conflicts of interest does not replace the obligation to list funding sources in the Funding Statement. These two statements serve different purposes and must be provided in accordance with IJPE guidelines.

Reviewer Responsibilities

Reviewers must disclose to the editor any relationships or interests that could affect the independence and objectivity of their evaluation of the manuscript. Conflicts of interest may include professional, institutional, financial, personal, or academic relationships with the authors or other parties associated with the manuscript.

Reviewers must decline an invitation to review or withdraw from the review process if a conflict of interest has the potential to compromise the objectivity of their evaluation. Reviewers are also required to maintain the confidentiality of the manuscript and must not use information obtained during the review process for personal gain or the benefit of others.

Responsibilities of the Editor and Editorial Board

The editor and members of the editorial board must maintain the independence of editorial decisions and disclose any conflicts of interest related to manuscripts under consideration. An editor with a conflict of interest must not be involved in the evaluation or editorial decision-making regarding that manuscript.

In such cases, the handling of the manuscript and editorial decisions must be delegated to another editor who has no conflict of interest. Decisions to accept or reject an article must be based on its relevance to the journal’s focus, scientific quality, originality, integrity, and the results of the review process not on personal, institutional, commercial interests, or specific relationships.
